The U9s finished their season off with a couple of games against Henley this weekend.
On Friday evening, the Henley A team, soon to be crowned league champions, visited Wargrave. It was a good game, but the Henley boys, who were 'real u9s', were a bit too strong and quick (and accurate with their fielding) for our largely u8 team. We gave them (and their umpire/coach) a few scary moments through the game, but a deserved win for Henley in the end. Some good performances from Wargrave though with Achint putting in his best bowling display of the season.
On Sunday we travelled over to Harpsden to play the Henley B team. With a number of different players from the Friday game it was squad rotation at its best. One thing that didn't change was another good performance from Achint with bat and ball, hitting the only 6 of the game and getting a wicket. Special mention to Bruno, our man of the match with a great catch, and also for Ryan for getting his first ever wicket along with some unique, yet effective, fielding techniques. A cracking caught and bowled from Teo, and a couple of run outs helped restrict Henley to 248 for 6 in their 15 overs.
Losing a wicket in the first ball wasn't the dream start to our innings, but the boys got stuck in. Boundaries from Sam, Achint, Harry, Max and Teo kept the scoreboard ticking over. And some good running between the wickets from Ryan, Kartik, Lubin, Jonathan and Bruno, also proved to be essential - as we ended up reaching 250 for 6 in our 15 overs. A 2 run win to finish off the league season. Well done boys.
